Hundreds of emails are pouring in. The Jakarta Post has headlined the ban.
Please click on comments on each post to see comments, but this priceless one, one of many is what I want to reproduce. How do we reply to him (I assume he belongs to the male gender). He does not have the courage to identify himself I assume?
"All Praise be to Allah that your film is banned.
There is no homosexuality in Islam.
We pray that people like you will return to the Straight Path and undo the grievous damage that you have caused to Islam."
started this blog, 2007. today i am a guggenheim fellow, a much lauded filmmaker and author; creator of 3 world firsts: a jihad for love; a sinner in mecca (films) + 112,000 page book. visit parvezsharma.com but this blog is historically important; a partial on the road record; the world's first ever film on islam and homosexuality; fact = "islam trilogy" = 8 million plus eyeballs; yes, death, defying work, but re-taught me gratitude+ humility; karma backbones = dh; sd; at; hva; pa

Shame on SINGAPORE! The anonymous coward author of the above post is definitely a muslim male. Last year, The Singapore International Film Festival banned "Solos" made by established filmmmaker and award winning local actor (who happens to be my coach!). This year, they decided to bar all the great mind provoking films and substitute that with one silly documentary about Singapore Lesbians (featuring one of my fellow sisters). How ironic!!! What are they trying to say? That lesbians are less of a threat than gay men?
On top of that, SIFF just had to brainwash an "International" audience by promoting a so called tribute to the prestigious Film Festival with interviewees that are made out of 98% Chinese population and ONE Indian man to represent this country. The BIAS projection of successful population in the local film industry is absurd, it is as if to discard other successful filmmakers of OTHER race, like we don't exist! Where's the diversity? Singapore (The Old Malaya) is a NEW China. If the minorities in this country does not STAND up for their rights, we might as well end like North Korea sooner of later.
Congratulations on your film Mr. Sharma. You are indeed and inspiration and I look forward to viewing y our film someday soon.
In the progress of Singapore the main contribution is of the Educational system.
