Dear friends:
We have an urgent need.
We must raise $6,766 to subtitle A Jihad for Love in Farsi, Urdu, Arabic, Hindi, and Turkish for global DVD distribution.
If even 14 people gave $500 or 27 people gave $250 or 45 people gave $150, then we would reach our goal. If we add Turkish, it is $1,458 more.
We are very proud of this groundbreaking work and have worked very hard to reach this point. A Jihad for Love has now been seen by 700,000 people in 30 nations with many lives transformed. People are convening, sometimes at great risk, private screenings in homes and organizations in Pakistan, Iran, Egypt and Bangladesh. However, the film cannot reach those in crisis who do not understand English. It is imperative that A Jihad for Love is available in the languages spoken by a majority of the world\'s 1.4 billion Muslims. There are tens of millions of Muslim gay and lesbian people, and their imams, families, and friends for whom A Jihad for Live has been and will be a lifeline. From Tehran to Istanbul, Cairo to Mumbai, Marrakech to Karachi, and Beirut to Dubai, a subtitled DVD will have impact for years to come as it is nearly impossible to screen the film on TV, in cinemas or safely in any public spaces in many countries.

started this blog, 2007. today i am a guggenheim fellow, a much lauded filmmaker and author; creator of 3 world firsts: a jihad for love; a sinner in mecca (films) + 112,000 page book. visit parvezsharma.com but this blog is historically important; a partial on the road record; the world's first ever film on islam and homosexuality; fact = "islam trilogy" = 8 million plus eyeballs; yes, death, defying work, but re-taught me gratitude+ humility; karma backbones = dh; sd; at; hva; pa

Dear Parvez Sharma,
Im a Phd Student in Islamology at Lund University in Sweden. My interest for islamic homosexualities and gay muslim rights has resulted in several publications about this topic. My master thesis "Straight from the heart? - Adaptations to Social stigma among Gays and Lesbians in Lebanon" was build on 4 months of field work in Beirut. My current research project is dealing with how to reconcile faith with a non-heterosexual identity among young practicing muslims in Lebanon.
My question is how to get hold of your film since there seems to be no distribution in Sweden. It is an important piece of work and I would like to use it as reference in my work.
Thank you,
Erica Li Lundqvist

I've just purchased the DVD in Australia released by FQ films - no special features and worst of all NO SUBTITLES. These are both mentioned in internet reviews of the DVD, why are these missing from the Australian release??? Very disappointing: I specifically bought this for my partner - arabic is his first language, english his third.
Hi Parvez, Assalamu Alaikum:
Did you ever reach your goal? If not, I strongly stuggest going to the Gay Communities in the US and UK for fund-raising. Put a small ad, or send out a press release, to the Advocate, AfterEllen.com, PerezHilton, etc. Your film is very important and it needs to reach the entire Muslim and non-Muslim Ummah.
Peace.
